Program outcome 1

Though many clinical experiences I had noted that our area has a high Native American populations, and they seem to be marginalized and withdrawn when working with them in a clinical setting. This led our group to chose a quality assurance topic that addressed disparities in the Native American population and why it is happening and what we can do as a nurse to improve our health care to meet this population with respect, kindness, and understand so they can receive improved care. We discovered that many Native American's wanted to be hear, but our current system is suppressing them and hiding their unique demographic needs within our census, and only as of recently have we separated them and discovered how at risk this population is to so many poor health outcomes.
