This was the hardest volunteer week I have experienced. I spent a week caring for a dying family member. Assisted with education on end-of-life care and what to expect. Provided full round-the-clock care for members, including comfort care, medication administration, up to calling time of death, and arranging body care and funeral.
The nursing students are always hosting leadership projects in our Casey building and requesting assistance with this or that for our community. This year, we created greeting cards for Halloween to be delivered to a local nursing home for the seniors. It was a lot of fun, and I was able to use my artistic talents to bring joy to seniors.
Although an easily overlooked volunteering opportunity, blood donation can mean the difference between life and death to someone. I try to donate as much as possible or when requests for my type are in need here in Bismark.
This event was hosted by my professor. It involved a booth at our local State capital educating families on sun safety, skin cancers, and prevention.
This event is a student-led event led by Amber Becker, where we volunteer time at the BLC assisted living home. This year, we assisted with Happy Hour, in which we helped seniors attend the activities of the day. These activities included serving food and drinks, helping bring residents to the hall and back, and cleaning up. We also deep-cleaned the dining room for the assisted living portion of the facility.
